Hello Dear Art Lover
MEA CULPA!! MEA CULPA!!
I accept full responsibility for that crazy thundersnow storm we had on the WE. I was remembering the old days of building snowmen and snow forts. Of course I could actually get up from the ground easily back then. Now what I’m thinking when I see all that white stuff, is where I am going to find a parking spot. :)
Hope you hunkered down and sat by the fire with cookies and hot chocolate (or a favourite cocktail..my personal choice)
Last Thursday there was an opening reception for the Fleck Fine Art Exhibition for March. The room was buzzing with energy and I was fortunate to talk about my two paintings that are there, The Wallflower and A Gathering of Friends. Several other artists spoke eloquently of their work. It was quite wonderful. I hope you can visit the show. The address is 1351 Queen St West, east of Jameson, in the heart of Parkdale.
One of the things I’m interested in, is the making of gelli prints for use in the addition of collage papers in my paintings. I am persuading my friend Gerry to hold a workshop and think there might be a few people here who might also be interested. Here’s a link to what gelli printing is about. Please send me a message and I’ll start a list.
You can use gelli prints for making cards but I am also thinking it would be a great activity with grandchildren.

Several years ago my buddy Dorothy and I saw the jaw-dropping gorgeous work of a Ghanian artist who uses discarded found treasures in his creations. Imagine in the ROM, floor to ceiling, ‘tapestries’ made with bottle caps. It quite literally had us gaping at the beauty.
Here’s a link to the wonderful art of Ghanian artist El Anatsui.
You can see more of my art at the Leslie Grove Gallery right now in their ‘Valued’ show highlighting the work of some of the many volunteers of the Artist Network. This show runs March 1-19. The gallery is located at 1158 Queen St E at Jones. You’ll find ‘Motherlove 1’ and ‘Can We Come Out Yet?’ among other great art of the volunteers.
I’m really in the thick of getting ready for my first solo show called ‘It’s All About Love”,which happens April 16-22. The venue will be at 1558 Queen St E (just west of Coxwell). You’ll find how I’ve channelled my inner Klimt. The inspiration for the title and the theme was started with a painting I’ve called ‘Love You Forever’ which I attach here. Teaser alert…there’s a very sweet back story to this one. Please mark your calendars for the opening on Sunday April 16. It’s going to be a PARTY!!
Rock on,
Gail
